ULRIK MUNTHER APPRECIATION POST

Hej :)
How are you guys?
The other day I was watching the Melodifestivalen and I wanted Ulrik Munther to win LOL (seems like he didn't D: ). Anyway, today's post is about him.
Ulrik started to play early in different rock bands around Kungsbacka just outside Swedish town Göteborg. After starting out playing covers of songs from bands like Kent and Guns’N'Roses, he started writing his own songs. When he was a 15 he won the Melody Grand Prix Nordic with his own song ”An ordinary day”. The year after he was second in Metro Music Challenge with his own composition ”Life”. The producer Johan Åberg heard Ulrik’s songs, saw the potential and started a musical cooperation. At his childhood home outside Göteborg Ulrik has been songs on the weekdays and on weekends travelling to Stockholm after school.
After the song Boys don’t cry was leaked on the Internet no less than twenty American and English record companies reached for the phone. Within four weeks Ulrik was flown to Los Angeles, New York, London and other European cities.
In September 2010 he signed with Universal Music in Sweden. On the 24th of September 2011 he released his debut album that went straight to no 1 on the Swedish album charts. Parts of the album were recorded in Stockholm, but a large portion of the production and recording were done in Ulrik’s own home. ( http://ulrikmunther.com/about/ )

And, since we're talking about ~Swedish~ music, I started learning Swedish again in another website, if someone is interested. I know I'll have to stop it again because of school, but the teachers said that we need fun, and I think it IS fun. u-u
That's it :P

MILLENNIUM TRILOGY APPRECIATION POST

Hej :) (this is "hi". In Swedish.)
How are you doing? I'm not really on the mood to write, but I'm writing because I promised it yesterday. But it's not a big deal, indeed.
The point is: this trilogy is awesome.
It was written by Stieg Larsson (who died in 2004) and the story is about a 24-year-old girl called Lisbeth Salander, who has a photographic memory but is (almost) completely antisocial and an investigative journalist  called Mikael Blomkvist, who's the editor of a magazine called Millennium.

The books:
1. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Män som hatar kvinnor) (2005)
2 .The Girl Who Played with Fire (Flickan som lekte med elden) (2006)
3 .The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest (Luftslottet som sprängdes) (2007)

When Larsson was 15 years old, he witnessed the gang rape of a girl, and he never forgave himself for failing to help the girl, which led to his lifelong abhorrence of violence and abuse against women. It inspired the themes of sexual violence against women in his books.
In writing the series, Larsson was also influenced by two murders: Melissa Nordell, a model killed by her boyfriend, and the Honor killing of Fadime Sahindal, a Swedish-Kurdish woman killed by her father. Both women were killed at the hands of men or as victims of honor crime.     To Larsson, there was no difference and the "systematic violence" against women highly affected and inspired him to take action against these crimes through his writing. Eva Gabrielsson, Larsson's longtime partner, wrote that "the trilogy allowed Stieg to denounce everyone he loathed for their cowardice, their irresponsibility, and their opportunism: couch-potato activists, sunny-day warriors, fair-weather skippers who pick and choose their causes; false friends who used him to advance their own careers; unscrupulous company heads and shareholders who wangle themselves huge bonuses... Seen in this light, Stieg couldn't have had any better therapy for what ailed his soul than writing his novels."

Films:

Swedish
The Swedish film production company Yellow Bird has produced film versions of the Millennium Trilogy, co-produced with The Danish film production company Nordisk Film and television company, which were released in Scandinavia in 2009. In 2010, the films were shown in an extended version of approximately 180 minutes per film as a six-part miniseries (each film divided in two parts of 90 minutes) on Swedish television. This version was released on July 14, 2010 on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in three separate sets and on November 24, 2010 as aComplete Millennium Trilogy box set with an extra disc.
Originally, only the first film was meant for a theatrical release, with the following ones conceived as TV movies, but this was changed in the wake of the tremendous success of the first film. The first film was directed by Niels Arden Oplev and the next two by Daniel Alfredson, while the screenplays of the first two were adapted by Nikolaj Arcel and Rasmus Heisterberg, and the last one by Ulf Rydberg and Jonas Frykberg. All three films feature Michael Nyqvist as Mikael Blomkvist and Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth Salander.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, released on February 25, 2009.
The Girl Who Played with Fire, released on September 18, 2009.
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest, released on November 27, 2009.
American films
Yellow Bird and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer partnered with Sony Pictures to produce an English-language adaptation of the first novel. The film is written by Steven Zaillian, directed by David Fincher and produced by Scott Rudin, with Daniel Craig as Mikael Blomkvist and Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander. Along with Dragon Tattoo, Fincher and Zaillian have signed a two picture deal to adapt The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest, which may be shot back to back. In January 2012, it was announced that Sony was "moving forward" with the adaptation of The Girl Who Played with Fire, with Zaillian in the early stage of scripting it for a planned release in late 2013.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Released in North America on December 21, 2011, and in the United Kingdom on December 26, 2011.

BOX 21 APPRECIATION POST

Hey guys :)
Today I'll write about one of the books I bought last month ^-^

Box 21 is a crime fiction that tells two stories: two Lithuanian women, Lydia Grajaukas and Alena Sljusareva, who went to Sweden looking for a better life and ended up as prostitutes, and Lydia makes a plan to end this.  At the same time, Detective Ewert Grens is trying to get his revenge against a gangster he really hates.
When Lydia is injured by whipping because he didn't want to do that anymore (she never wanted, but whatever, you get it) and goes to the hospital,  Grens is there investigating and the two stories intertwine and they're WAY more related than I thought it would be.
I picked the covers here.

ERIC SAADE APPRECIATION POST

Hey guys :B how are you?
So, last semester I heard a lot about Eurovision (searching for Hetalia fanart, actually XD) and I was trying to find out what it was and I liked that :B and I kind of wanted Sweden to win (kind of = actually, I wanted a lot of countries to win XD).

Eric Saade is a Swedish pop singer and children's television presenter. After two years with the boyband What's Up!, he left in February 2009 to pursue a solo career. Eric Saade represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Germany after winning the national Swedish selection Melodifestivalen 2011 with his entry "Popular". In the final Saade came in third place which was Sweden's best result in the contest since1999.Saade grew up in Kattarp outside Helsingborg to a Lebanese father of Palestinian origins and a Swedish mother and they divorced when he was four.Saade began writing songs at age 13. His first music contract was when he was 15 and resulted in one album and three singles. None of them charted. He came to prominence after he won the Swedish music contest Joker (now Popkorn). In 2007, he took part in a competition for filling up a position in a new proposed Swedish boyband to be formed (What's Up!). The newly-formed band toured in Sweden starting Spring 2008. The same year, they sang the Swedish version of the theme song for disney's Camp Rock. Saade and members of What's Up! recorded the soundtrack for the film and the song was titled "Här är jag" in Swedish. Saade also dubbed the voice of the character Shane Grey, played by Joe Jonas, in the Swedish version of Camp Rock with other What's Up! members dubbing voices of other characters. They also appeared on the promotional trailer prepared by Disney Channel. In 2008, the band released its album In Pose. It stayed one week in the Swedish Albums Chart at #40. Two singles were released, "Go Girl!" in May 2007 that peaked at #5 in the Swedish Singles Chart and "If I Told You Once" in March 2008 reaching #16.
In early 2009, the band announced the departure of Eric Saade for a solo career.
During the summer of 2009 Saade presented Disney Channel's popular "My Camp Rock" (a Scandinavian music competition based on the Disney Channel's hit movie Camp Rock). Saade also appeared on Julias Stjärnskott, a competition for young people, as a compere.
He was a member of the Swedish jury for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 and on the night of the final, 29 May 2010, he announced the Swedish votes.
In August 2009 Saade signed a new contract with Roxy Recordings. In December 2009 Saade released his first worldwide single Sleepless that reached #44 in the Swedish Singles Chart. In January 2010 he won a Scandipop Award for "Brightest New Hope for 2010". While participating in Melodifestivalen 2010, Saade released his second single "Manboy". The single topped the Swedish Single Chart, the Swedish Ringtones Chart and has achieved Platinum Certification in Sweden. It stayed three weeks on #1 in Sweden and one week in the Swedish Ringtones Chart. It also was #5 in the Swedish Year-End Singles Chart of 2010. His third single "Break of Dawn" reached number #45 in the charts.
Saade released his first studio album, "Masquerade", on May 2010, and it peaked at #2 in the Swedish Albums Chart. It has also achieved Gold Certification in Sweden. It was #29 in the Swedish Year-End Albums Chart 2010 and #41 in the Swedish Year-End Albums and Collections Chart 2010.
From 9 June until 11 September 2010, Saade went on his first Swedish tour called "Masquerade Tour" and he was also nominated for three Rockbjörnen Awards. In January 2011, Saade released the first promotional single "Still Loving It" for his second album in Sweden. In the same month he was nominated for eight Scandipop Awards. While participating in Melodifestivalen a second time, he released the single "Popular" in Sweden which got him his second #1 hit and his second #1 ringtone there. After winning in Melodifestivalen and participating in the Eurovision Song Contest, the single was released wordwide. In June 2011, Saade released the single "Hearts in the Air" with Swedish rapper J-Son in Sweden. It reached #2 in the Swedish Singles Chart. On 29 June 2011, Saade released his second studio album, "Saade Vol. 1" in Sweden and Finland, which topped the Swedish Albums Chart. From 17 June until 3 September 2011, Saade went on his second Swedish tour called "Made of Pop Tour" and, in September 2011, it was revealed that Saade signed with the UK record label called All Around the World Productions.
His third studio album "Saade Vol. 2" is expected to be released on 30 November 2011 in Sweden. The first single from the album "Hotter than Fire" will be a collaboration with American singer Dev. It is set to release on 2 November 2011 in Sweden.

I picked up information from wikipedia because it's almost midnight and it will be better if I don't try to write a lot by myself ^-^"

SEREMEDY APPRECIATION POST

Hey people o/ how are you?
Some months ago I was taking a look on that suggestions of pages on facebook and I found this band *u*

The idea behind Seremedy was created by RAY and JENZiiH in late 2008 in Sundsvall, Sweden, but it took one year until the band got it’s final line-up and started their activities in the beginning of 2010. They don't want to be tied to a specific genre. Their sound varies greatly from heavy and dark, agressive yet melodic to more cheerful and happy, and everything between is expressed by the variation in appearance.
Since the start of Seremedy they have gained an ever growing number of fans from all around the world.
Only 6 months after the formation they played their first show outside of Sweden in Moscow. One year after the beggining, they got signed to Ninetone Records/Universal music Sweden. Short after they released their first MAXI-single "Seasons will change" and went to their first real tour, held in Japan with 7 gigs around Tokyo and one in Nagoya.
SEIKE - vocal
YOHIO - guitar
RAY - guitar
JENZiiH - bass
LINDER - drums
