KORN APPRECIATION POST

 Hey!
How was your weekend?
Korn (KoЯn) is a nu metal band from Bakersfield, California. I don't know what's REALLY important and what isn't, so I'll copy stuff from their facebook page (there's a lot of quotes and cool stuff there ^-^)
Over the course of eight full-length releases, Korn have sold in excess of 30 million albums and played countless sold-out shows worldwide. They've won two Grammys—one for Best Short Form Video for "Freak on a Leash" from 1998’s Follow the Leader and one for Best Metal Performance for "Here to Stay," from 2002’s Untouchables—and have launched a massively successful festival of their own, The Family Values Tour.
Their ninth offering, Korn III —Remember Who You Are, is their first effort for brand new label home, Roadrunner Records, and each song unleashes an uneasiness reminiscent of Korn's earliest and most unbridled material, but there’s also a modern refinement that's epic in its execution. Korn definitely don't lose sight of their roots on Remember Who You Are, but they also venture into uncharted darkness. All that truly matters is where they're going. The album strikes a balance between their past and their future, as it finds the band reuniting with producer Ross Robinson, who manned the boards for their first two records, all the while joining forces with Roadrunner Records, the world’s leading rock label.
With Korn III – Remember Who You Are, it's their time...
"This album is a reflection of us being a band since 1993," says vocalist Jonathan Davis. "We worked hard on the previous records, and we experimented a lot. For Remember Who You Are, the four of us got together in a small room with the intention of writing an old school Korn record. This album is a perfect mixture of everything we've done, and this version of the band is the best ever."
In order to tap into the chaos that made their self-titled debut a modern classic, the band enlisted the help of the man who helmed Korn and Life is Peachy—producer Ross Robinson, whose goal was to bring Korn back to square one. He undoubtedly succeeded. Davis had an intense and invigorating recording session. "Ross helped us remember what we used to do this for," the singer says. "It was more psychological than anything. Ross was right there pushing me and he drove me insane. I sing about a lot of things that hit really close to my heart and he knew how to trigger that. I nearly fucking broke down at the end of almost every song, but I got it all out."
For guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer, the experience was no different. He elaborates, "Teaming up with Ross has brought that raw, emotional feeling back to the music. Ross is the only person in the world that's ever been able to draw us to that place. He reminds us why we're here, why these songs are important to our fans and why what we do as a band relates. He made us remember how our music saves lives, and he came into the picture at the perfect time. We had no record label and just wanted to make a great album. Ross stepped in at the right moment to hit the reset button."
Hitting that "reset button" involved stripping down the process. There would be no Pro-Tools, no tracking separately and no heavy post editing. In order to conjure Remember Who You Are's claustrophobic yet wholly organic chaos, Korn recorded on two-inch tape and locked themselves inside a 10x10 room buried within their Los Angeles studio, nicknamed "The Cat Box." Being in such close proximity to one another stirred up a torrent of explosive music. Bassist Reggie "Fieldy" Arvizu remembers, "In that room, even if I turned my bass head, it would hit somebody. Getting back in there was like a family reunion. We felt like brothers again. Being older and setting egos aside, we were able to focus on making the best record we could."
Davis dug deep for cuts like "The Past" and "Never Around." About "The Past," the singer says, "A lot of people dwell on the past, and they feel guilt. There's nothing you can do about the past because it's gone and it's blown up. We're here now." On Korn III – Remember Who You Are, Davis is fully present and at his most vitriolic, violent and vibrant on the likes of "Move On" and "Are You Ready to Live?"
He goes on, "I let everything flow, while I was coming up with lyrics. They're about me living my life for others when I shouldn't, people-pleasing all of the time, stress, guilt and all kinds of emotions we live with everyday that destroy us and tear us down. I write about all of the fake people around us and how I always try to fix other people's problems. I write what I feel, and it comes out naturally. I've got a lot of shit built up inside me; that doesn't go away."
For Davis, the album name covers it all. "It comes down to one question: 'Who the fuck am I?' It's about remembering where we came from. The title sums up everything I'm talking about lyrically. During the first two records, we were kids, and we didn't have anything. We were making music, having fun and not worrying. I went back to that place where I wasn't worried. I wanted to be completely honest with my feelings, express myself and let them out. People get so wrapped up in social communities, the Internet and technology that they forget who they are and what life's really about. I fucking forgot who I was until I did this record. This album is just a bass, a guitar, drums and my vocals. I look at the records we've done as slots in time, and I believe Remember Who You Are is very special."
"There's that timeless space that we enter where nothing else matters on stage," says Munky. "It's us, the crowd and the music. We lose track of where we are and who we are, and it's just a timeless shared space between us and the audience. We lose ourselves in the music. I want fans to lose themselves in the new music by forgetting about any problems or anything going on in their minds and let their hearts hear it. It's the same experience that I get when I'm on stage."
The process brought them back to the beginning, but it also encouraged serious growth. Everyone is locked in like never before. Fieldy adds, "We want to take you on a rollercoaster with this record. There are spacey and weird parts where the bass can breathe and there are some heavy moments. On Remember Who You Are, I'm doing what I really wanted to do on our first record."
In the end, this is for the people that made Korn—the millions of kids worldwide that buy every record, wear every shirt and never miss a show. Davis concludes, "I love doing what I do. I love helping kids. I love hearing fans say, 'You got me through this or that.' It makes me feel like I've done something positive. I want kids to feel what I'm saying and really hear it. I'd love for the new songs to provoke them to think about what goes on around them. We're very fortunate to keep doing what we're doing, still be relevant and create music that invokes feelings from people."

ERIC SAADE APPRECIATION POST

Hey guys :B how are you?
So, last semester I heard a lot about Eurovision (searching for Hetalia fanart, actually XD) and I was trying to find out what it was and I liked that :B and I kind of wanted Sweden to win (kind of = actually, I wanted a lot of countries to win XD).

Eric Saade is a Swedish pop singer and children's television presenter. After two years with the boyband What's Up!, he left in February 2009 to pursue a solo career. Eric Saade represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Germany after winning the national Swedish selection Melodifestivalen 2011 with his entry "Popular". In the final Saade came in third place which was Sweden's best result in the contest since1999.Saade grew up in Kattarp outside Helsingborg to a Lebanese father of Palestinian origins and a Swedish mother and they divorced when he was four.Saade began writing songs at age 13. His first music contract was when he was 15 and resulted in one album and three singles. None of them charted. He came to prominence after he won the Swedish music contest Joker (now Popkorn). In 2007, he took part in a competition for filling up a position in a new proposed Swedish boyband to be formed (What's Up!). The newly-formed band toured in Sweden starting Spring 2008. The same year, they sang the Swedish version of the theme song for disney's Camp Rock. Saade and members of What's Up! recorded the soundtrack for the film and the song was titled "Här är jag" in Swedish. Saade also dubbed the voice of the character Shane Grey, played by Joe Jonas, in the Swedish version of Camp Rock with other What's Up! members dubbing voices of other characters. They also appeared on the promotional trailer prepared by Disney Channel. In 2008, the band released its album In Pose. It stayed one week in the Swedish Albums Chart at #40. Two singles were released, "Go Girl!" in May 2007 that peaked at #5 in the Swedish Singles Chart and "If I Told You Once" in March 2008 reaching #16.
In early 2009, the band announced the departure of Eric Saade for a solo career.
During the summer of 2009 Saade presented Disney Channel's popular "My Camp Rock" (a Scandinavian music competition based on the Disney Channel's hit movie Camp Rock). Saade also appeared on Julias Stjärnskott, a competition for young people, as a compere.
He was a member of the Swedish jury for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 and on the night of the final, 29 May 2010, he announced the Swedish votes.
In August 2009 Saade signed a new contract with Roxy Recordings. In December 2009 Saade released his first worldwide single Sleepless that reached #44 in the Swedish Singles Chart. In January 2010 he won a Scandipop Award for "Brightest New Hope for 2010". While participating in Melodifestivalen 2010, Saade released his second single "Manboy". The single topped the Swedish Single Chart, the Swedish Ringtones Chart and has achieved Platinum Certification in Sweden. It stayed three weeks on #1 in Sweden and one week in the Swedish Ringtones Chart. It also was #5 in the Swedish Year-End Singles Chart of 2010. His third single "Break of Dawn" reached number #45 in the charts.
Saade released his first studio album, "Masquerade", on May 2010, and it peaked at #2 in the Swedish Albums Chart. It has also achieved Gold Certification in Sweden. It was #29 in the Swedish Year-End Albums Chart 2010 and #41 in the Swedish Year-End Albums and Collections Chart 2010.
From 9 June until 11 September 2010, Saade went on his first Swedish tour called "Masquerade Tour" and he was also nominated for three Rockbjörnen Awards. In January 2011, Saade released the first promotional single "Still Loving It" for his second album in Sweden. In the same month he was nominated for eight Scandipop Awards. While participating in Melodifestivalen a second time, he released the single "Popular" in Sweden which got him his second #1 hit and his second #1 ringtone there. After winning in Melodifestivalen and participating in the Eurovision Song Contest, the single was released wordwide. In June 2011, Saade released the single "Hearts in the Air" with Swedish rapper J-Son in Sweden. It reached #2 in the Swedish Singles Chart. On 29 June 2011, Saade released his second studio album, "Saade Vol. 1" in Sweden and Finland, which topped the Swedish Albums Chart. It was five weeks on #1 in Sweden. It also reached #16 on the Finnish Albums Chart making the album his first that charted internationally. From 17 June until 3 September 2011, Saade went on his second Swedish tour called "Made of Pop Tour" and, in September 2011, it was revealed that Saade signed with the UK record label called All Around the World Productions.
His third studio album "Saade Vol. 2" is expected to be released on 30 November 2011 in Sweden. The first single from the album "Hotter than Fire" will be a collaboration with American singer Dev. It is set to release on 2 November 2011 in Sweden.

VITAMIN STRING QUARTET APPRECIATION POST

Hey guys :3
So I didn't know what to post about today and my friend suggested this. ^-^ Since I didn't know the band I had to pick info from wikipedia.
The Vitamin String Quartet is a group from Los Angeles widely known for its series of tribute albums to rock and pop acts. Their albums are released through Vitamin Records and primarily performed by a string quartet, though other instruments have been used. "Vitamin String Quartet is about applying rock n' roll attitude to classical technique," says Tom Tally, a violist and arranger who has performed on and produced over fifty Vitamin String Quartet albums.
Their albums honor a wide variety of genres not limited to pop and rock, including techno, country, and rap.In 2008, VSQ contributed a recording of "Jack and Sally Montage" to Nightmare Revisited, on which the Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas original score was reinterpreted.
Songs by Vitamin String Quartet were featured on the Fox television show So You Think You Can Dance twice in 2008. Songs appeared again on the show in Season 6. Legacy Perez used Flashing Lights as a track for a solo elimination dance which aired 9/12/2009. Yellow originally by Coldplay featured on the show as guest dancers on the Top 10 elimination show, The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers. This episode aired 2/12/2009
Two songs from The Vitamin String Quartet Tribute to Coldplay, "Yellow" and "Clocks," were used in an episode of TV show Vampire Diaries on April 22, 2010

AN CAFE APPRECIATION POST

Hey guys :) How are you?
On the last post I mentioned Kanon, from An Cafe, and now I'll write about them because I like the band. Actually, it was the first VK band I knew *-*
Antic Cafe (アンティック-珈琲店-, nicknamed An Cafe) is an Oshare Kei* band formed in 2003, but now they describe themselves as "Harajuku dance rock". On September 1, 2009, the band announced that after their live on January 4, 2010, at the Nippon Budokan, they would put the group on a hiatus, however they have stated they won't be disbanding. (why do goods bands stop? ;-;)

The band was formed in May 2003 by Miku (vocal), Bou (guitar) and Kanon (bass). Miku's former band, Revirii, had disbanded two months earlier, and even without a drummer, they started to perform at several events. They were later joined by Teruki after he left his former band, Feathers-Blue.

In 2007, Bou's departure announced the band's first overseas appearance at Project A-Kon. The last performance with Bou was on April 30, 2007 and, after Bou left the band, Takuya replaced Bou as the guitarist and Yu-ki joined An Cafe as a keyboardist. The first single with their new lineup was"Kakusei Heroism" At the end of 2007, An Cafe announced their first overseas tour in 2008 (they went to Europe).

In 2010, An Cafe announced that they will be taking a break from activities. The message on their official homepage says that "after the Budokan show, each member will concentrate on their own activity to be prepared for the band to restart in the future."

Meanwhile, several members are now involved in other projects. Kanon is heading a mobile phone game called Pinky☆Distortion, which was released in July 2010 and he'll be a guest at Otakon 2010 as a panelist and a guest DJ, as well as pairing up with Kanon Wakeshima to form kanonxkanon. Miku is serving as the vocalist for the new visual-kei band, Lc5, which started in June 2010 and Teruki is playing as a support drummer for the band DOG in the parallel world orchestra.

KANON WAKESHIMA APPRECIATION POST

Hey :)
How are you?
So, one day I was fangirling and having my stalker momento because I was so addicted to Moi dix Mois and them I find this girl because she is/was produced by Mana. ^-^
Kanon Wakeshima is a Japanese singer and cellist. She debuted on 2008 with the single "Still Doll", ending theme of the anime "Vampire Knight". Her second single "Suna no Oshiro" was used as the ending theme for the series' second season. She was nominated for a Best Newcomer award for 2008 in the fourth annual Shojo Beat Music Awards.
Her parents (both musicians) wanted her to be a musician since before she were born. She started playing the cello when she was three (!) and, when she was 16, she started writing her own songs and combining singing eith cello. Her first vocal performances were on a high school festival. Wakeshima auditioned at Sony Music Entertainment as a singer, originally just as a singer, but later she changed her mind after and experimented performing with the piano. She have three cellos (one for performing, one for music videos and one for recording) and each one have a name.
She has recently formed a group with An Cafe's bassist Kanon, called KanonxKanon. They sang the second theme song for the anime Shiki, called "Calendula Requiem".

KITTIE APPRECIATION POST

Hello ^-^
Today I was like "WTF will I write about today and my friend suggested this band, and it's really amazing :B

Kittie is an alternative/heavy metal band formed in 1996 in London, Ontario. They rose to success in 1999 when the track "Brackish" from their debut album Spit became a hit single and they also toured with multiple famous acts, including Slipknot.
In 1996, when Mercedes and guitarist Fallon met in an extracurricular gymnastics class. Mercedes's sister Morgan became lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist. Their original bassist was Tanya Candler, who left the band in the winter of 1999 to finish high school. Talena was selected as the new bassist. In 2001, Fallon left Kittie without citing her reasons and started a new project called Amphibious Assault. Fallon's position as guitarist was later filled by Jeff Phillips who worked as Kittie's guitar technician. In 2002, Talena left and was replaced on bass by Jennifer Arroyo. In 2004, the group added guitarist Lisa Marx, and Jeff Phillips went to work full-time on his side project, Thine Eyes Bleed. On March 23, 2005, Morgan reported that both Lisa and Jennifer had left the band.Jennifer's split was amicable while Lisa's came as a surprise. As with Talena's departure from the band, financial reasons were cited and in the case of Jennifer, the desire to work outside of Kittie full-time was an additional factor. Jennifer Arroyo would go on to join Billy Graziadei of Biohazard to form Suicide City.In 2005 Kittie added two new members: Tara McLeod on guitar and Trish Doan on bass.2005 also brought the debut of Morgan and Mercedes Lander’s clothing line, Poisoned Black clothing. Morgan and Mercedes also appeared briefly in the documentaries Metal: A Headbanger's Journey and Heavy Metal - Louder than Life.In 2006 they created their own record label, Kiss of Infamy Records, but the label name was later changed to X of Infamy after a cease-and-desist letter from attorneys representing Kiss Catalog Ltd.Kittie kicked off 2007 with the Funeral for Yesterday Tour running from the beginning of February until the end of March. Other bands on the bill included Walls of Jericho, 36 Crazyfists, Dead To Fall, and In This Moment. The positive feedback and success of the tour encouraged Kittie to extend their tour into May 2007 with Walls of Jericho and In This Moment. In November 2007 Kittie headed south to play shows in Central and South America, including dates in Santiago, Chile and São Paulo, Brazil. For these shows in Central/South America, Ivy Vujic of the Canadian band In The Wake filled in for Trish Doan on bass.On August 2, 2008 David Lander, father of band members Morgan and Mercedes and the band's manager, died of a heart attack.
Between October 18, 2008 and November 8, 2008, Kittie completed their first European tour in six years. The Kittie Does Europe tour included dates in the Netherlands, England, Wales, Scotland, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Russia.

EDGE OF ATTACK APPRECIATION POST

Hey o/
So today I fond this bans on Facebook and the songs are awesome, so I decided to make a post about them ^-^
Edge of Attack went through many changes since it's formation in 2006, until finally finding their place in the music scene in 2010 as Alberta's premiere thrash metal band. Fusing classic thrash metal style from the 1980's with a more modern sound, they have created a style that has been lacking in the metal scene for quite some time. Mid-March,2010 marked the beginning of an era, as Edge of Attack headed into the Black Box Studio to record their debut EP, No Return. During the recording process of the album, they entered a local battle of the bands, where they dominated the competition to take first place. Recording of the album was finished May 27th, 2010, and has been released worldwide.
Since the release of 'No Return,' Edge of Attack has been on a fast-track to heavy metal dominance, completing a long stretch of shows in Edmonton, Calgary, and Grande Prairie. Spending much of late 2010 and early 2011 back in the Black Box Studio, Edge of Attack is almost ready to unleash it's first full-length album in the form of 'Where Angels Die.' This album promises to be a diverse, yet focused showcase of the various styles that have been used as influence to create Edge of Attack's unique style.

This text is from their official website, because I didn't know what's really important XD
